Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment and securing methods. Training can be provided.
- Drive a range of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver machinery, parts and goods to customers.
- Follow designated routes efficiently, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
- Carry out general grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming and leaf blowing.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.
- Support the stores team, including moving and organising stock between goods-in areas and storage containers.
- Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records of journeys and deliveries.
- Carry out basic assembly work, such as assembling wheelbarrows and similar equipment.
- Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery, providing a friendly and professional service.
- Follow all relevant health and safety procedures when transporting, loading and handling machinery.
- Undertake general yard duties as required, including painting, drain clearance, sweeping and maintaining a clean and presentable depot.
- A full UK driving licence; a clean licence or minimal points is preferred.
- Experience towing trailers; relevant trailer licence entitlement is desirable.
- Previous experience in a delivery, driving, yard or similar hands-on role.
- A good understanding of safe loading, unloading and securing of machinery.
- The physical fitness required to handle machinery and carry out manual duties.
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varying hours when required, including early starts or later finishes for longer-distance journeys.
- Experience within the horticultural, agricultural or construction sectors would be advantageous.
- A forklift licence or other relevant qualifications would be desirable.
- Good geographical knowledge of East and West Sussex would be an advantage.
- Full-time, permanent position.
- 39-hour working week.
- Overtime paid at time and a half once 39 hours Monday–Friday have been completed.
