Yard Operator

Location: Sunderland
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Our client are looking for an experienced Yard Operator to join a busy industrial operation in Sunderland. This is a hands-on role involving vehicle movements, forklift operations, loading and unloading activities, stock control, and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklift trucks and site equipment safely.
• Load and unload tankers, drums, and IBCs.
• Manage vehicle movements and act as a banksman when required.
• Carry out daily equipment checks and report defects.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure all loading and transfer activities are completed safely and in line with procedures.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
• Support site safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Valid FLT licence and practical forklift experience.
• Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, waste, recycling, or industrial environment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with hazardous materials, permit-to-work systems, or bulk liquid handling would be advantageous.
