Yard Operative Metal Processing & Recycling £13 per hour, £27-£28.730 per year PAYE Brentwood, Essex (Depot) Full-time, Permanent (PAYE) MUST have own transport due to work location 
Yard Operative Role Our Client is looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our depot team in Brentwood. The role involves processing redundant metals and materials, preparing them for recycling, keeping the yard safe and organised, and assisting with general maintenance and offloading duties. This is a hands-on, physical role suitable for someone practical, hardworking, and looking for stable full-time work with training and progression.
 
Yard Operative Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday - 42.5 hours a week (30 minute unpaid lunch) 
  • Saturday overtime occasionally available at time and a half
Yard Operative Key Responsibilities
  • Processing redundant metals and materials into skips and containers
  • Using basic hand tools (cutting, separating, preparing materials)
  • Assisting with yard maintenance and general depot duties
  • Operating forklifts and other yard equipment (training provided if required)
  • Carrying out daily checks on equipment and PPE
  • Following all health & safety procedures on site
  • Working as part of a small, supportive team
Yard Operative Pay & Benefits
  • £13/hour PAYE - approx. £28,730 
  • Overtime opportunities (weekends and evenings at time and a half)
  • 28 days paid holiday (20 days annual leave + 8 statutory)

Training & Development All training is fully funded, including:
  • Forklift licence (if not already held)

Yard Operative Requirements
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual outdoor work
  • Able to use basic hand tools safely
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
  • Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
  • Previous yard or labouring experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (advantageous but not essential)
  • Drug & alcohol-free - testing may be carried out as part of employment
