We are currently recruiting for an experienced Yard Operative to join a busy scrap metal recycling operation. The role involves working in an industrial yard environment, handling and moving scrap materials, including heavy domestic appliances such as fridges and freezers.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading, unloading and moving scrap metal and appliances around the yard
- Handling heavy fridges, freezers and other large domestic appliances
- Sorting and separating different types of scrap materials
- Using manual handling equipment and yard machinery where required
- Keeping the yard clean, tidy and organised
- Following all site health & safety procedures
- Working as part of a team in a busy, physically demanding environment
- Carrying out general yard duties as required
About You
- Previous experience in a yard, scrap metal, recycling, warehouse or industrial environment is desirable
- Comfortable handling heavy and bulky items
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual work throughout the shift
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Able to work safely around heavy machinery and vehicles
- Good attitude and willingness to get stuck in
