About the Role

We are seeking  reliable, organised, and proactive Yardman to join our team based at Elm Court, Gillingham, Kent. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the yard, ensuring that all vehicles, equipment, tools, materials, and PPE are properly controlled, maintained, and ready for operational use.

This is a vital role within the business, helping to ensure that our crews and drivers are fully equipped and prepared for each shift while maintaining efficient yard operations.

Key Responsibilities
Checking staff in and out at the start and end of each shift.
Signing vehicles out to drivers and maintaining accurate records.
Controlling access to the main yard and allowing staff members in and out during off-peak times.
Conducting regular stock checks of:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Materials
Tools and equipment
Inspecting all vehicles upon their return from shift and ensuring that all allocated tools, equipment, and materials are accounted for.
Reporting any missing, damaged, or defective items to management.
Preparing vehicles, tools, materials, and equipment ready for the following day's operations.
Organising and coordinating the collection, delivery, and return of hired plant and equipment.
Maintaining a clean, safe, secure, and organised yard environment at all times.
Completing end-of-shift reports for the Operations Manager, highlighting any shortages, damages, defects, or operational concerns.
Ensuring company procedures and health and safety standards are followed at all times.
Additional Duties

Due to operational requirements, there may be occasions when staff sickness or absence requires the Yardman to assist operational teams with day-to-day works. Full training will be provided to enable the successful candidate to carry out these duties safely and effectively.

Requirements
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and stock inventories.
A proactive, flexible, and dependable approach to work.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, construction, utilities, or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
