Are you a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
Our education recruitment agency is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to work within the school's specialist Autism Resource Base. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with Autism (ASC) in a structured, nurturing environment where every child's individual needs are prioritised.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for Year 2 pupils with Autism.
- Assist with delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities tailored to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.
- Use visual timetables, sensory strategies and communication aids such as PECS or Makaton where appropriate.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists and parents to ensure pupils make excellent progress.
- Support personal care where required.
- Experience working with children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs in a school, nursery or care setting.
- A calm, patient and positive approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of KS1 and Year 2 learning expectations is desirable.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- Graduates in Psychology, Education or related subjects are welcome to apply.
