A primary school in Cheetham Hill (M8) is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide consistent 1:1 support to a child in Year 3.
This role would suit someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and who understands the importance of building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil they support.
Your Day-to-Day
Working closely with the class teacher, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day. You will help the pupil access lessons, remain engaged in their learning and feel confident within the classroom environment.
The role will involve:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Adapting activities and resources to help the pupil access learning.
- Supporting engagement, concentration and independence.
- Assisting with classroom routines and transitions.
- Providing support with the child's social, emotional and behavioural development where required.
- Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure the pupil receives the right support.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient and nurturing, with the ability to remain calm and consistent throughout the day.
Previous experience supporting children with SEN is important, particularly experience providing 1:1 support within a primary school. The school would also welcome applications from candidates with experience in areas such as autism, SEMH, communication needs or challenging behaviour.
Most importantly, you'll need to be someone who can build a positive relationship with the child while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.
