Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity within Key Stage 2? Academics are working with a supportive primary school in Havering that is seeking a dedicated Year 5/6 Teaching Assistant to join the team from November.

Location: Havering
Contract: Long-term contract from 2 November 2026 until July 2027
Pay: £93-£120 per day
Start Date: 2 November 2026

About the Role

As a Year 5/6 Teaching Assistant in Havering, you will work alongside the class teacher to provide valuable support to pupils across upper Key Stage 2.

You will assist with classroom learning, support individuals and small groups, and help pupils remain engaged and confident in their work. The role would suit someone who is patient, encouraging and able to build positive relationships with children.

Previous KS2 experience is advantageous, particularly experience supporting pupils in Years 5 or 6, although candidates with relevant primary classroom experience are encouraged to apply.

The school offers parking facilities and excellent transport links, making the role accessible for both drivers and public transport users.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils across Years 5 and 6.
• Assist with lessons, classroom activities and learning resources.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Help pupils develop confidence and independence.
• Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in a primary school setting.
• KS2 experience advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, reliable and supportive approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply.
