Year 5 Primary Teacher

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Primary Teacher to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Basildon, Essex from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate primary teacher to join a supportive school community and deliver engaging, purposeful learning to a Year 5 class. The successful candidate will be committed to helping pupils make strong academic progress while developing their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.

You will be:

  • Teaching a Year 5 class within a mainstream primary school setting
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Differentiating learning to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils
  • Assessing and monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and the wider school team
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school and participating in school activities and events

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching within a primary school setting, ideally with experience teaching Year 5
  • Have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Be confident in planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons
  • Have strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Be committed to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Work effectively as part of a team

ECTs with relevant primary teaching experience are welcome to apply.

  • Be enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about primary education
  • Have high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
  • Be adaptable and able to respond to a range of learning needs
  • Have a positive and proactive approach to teaching
  • Have full-time availability from September 2026
  • Have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available
