Academics are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in the Staffordshire Moorlands for a dedicated teacher to take on a Year 6 maternity cover position starting February 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys the energy and responsibility of Year 6 and wants to become part of a supportive school community through a longer-term supply placement.

The school is looking for someone who can provide consistency, enthusiasm and high-quality teaching while their permanent teacher is on maternity leave.

The Role

As the Year 6 Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for creating an engaging, purposeful and supportive learning environment for pupils as they prepare for their transition to secondary school.

You will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
• Supporting pupils in preparation for their SATs
• Monitoring progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
• Creating a positive classroom environment where pupils feel confident to learn
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents
• Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development
• Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, achievement and pupil wellbeing

About You

The school would like to hear from teachers who:

• Hold QTS
• Have recent experience teaching in a UK primary school
• Have experience teaching Year 6 or a strong understanding of upper KS2
• Have a good knowledge of the primary curriculum
• Can confidently prepare pupils for SATs
• Build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Are organised, adaptable and committed
• Can provide consistency throughout the maternity cover period
