Young Person Independent Living Officer
Mosscare St Vincents Housing (MSV Housing) · Direct employer
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team, supporting young people to achieve independence, develop life skills, and reach their full potential within a safe and supportive environment.
Working alongside the Registered Service Manager, you will help deliver a high-quality supported accommodation service that meets the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023. You will play a key role in safeguarding, providing person-centred support, and working collaboratively with external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
As a positive role model, mentor, and advocate, you will build strong relationships with young people and partner organisations, facilitate engaging activities and support programmes, and empower residents to develop confidence, resilience, and independence. Through a strengths-based approach, you will help young people progress towards their goals while promoting wellbeing, safety, education, employment, and social inclusion.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting young people, has excellent relationship-building skills, and is passionate about helping them thrive and succeed.
What do our Young Person Independent Living Officer do;
-
Provide person-centred support to vulnerable and at-risk young people, manage safeguarding concerns, deliver crisis interventions, and work with external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
-
Manage a caseload of residents, complete assessments and risk management plans, develop tailored support plans, maintain accurate records, and support young people towards independent living.
-
Assist with applications, move-ins, licence agreements, rent and occupancy monitoring, arrears management, income maximisation, and supporting residents to move on to suitable accommodation.
-
Build strong relationships with local authorities, health professionals, education providers, and community organisations while delivering activities, workshops, and opportunities that promote wellbeing, independence, and personal development.
-
Maintain accurate records and performance data, contribute to safeguarding and regulatory compliance, support health and safety standards, and ensure services are delivered in line with organisational policies, procedures, and quality standards.
What we are looking for;
-
Good standard of education with minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade C or above including Maths and English
-
Proven experience advocating on behalf of customers and supporting individuals with mental health needs and other vulnerabilities to achieve positive outcomes.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload while consistently delivering high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
-
Strong understanding of mental health, vulnerable young people, trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and delivering person-centred support in line with best practice.
-
Experience managing and prioritising a busy caseload, negotiating with customers, planning support interventions, and delivering high-quality services that achieve positive outcomes.
-
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, confidence using Microsoft Office and case management systems, and the ability to remain organised, professional, and effective under pressure.

As this job is based in a supported housing project for young people and children, an enhanced criminal records background check (free of charge to you) is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily stop you from working with us. All decisions regarding convictions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy’s candidate pack.
