Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:30pm

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading employee-owned training provider for a Youth Engagement Officer to support the delivery of the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) Programme across Abergavenny, Abertillery, and Blackwood.

The Role

As a Youth Engagement Officer, you'll play a vital role in identifying, engaging, and recruiting young people onto the Jobs Growth Wales+ Programme. You'll work closely with schools, community organisations, local employers, and internal teams to promote the programme and ensure learners receive the support they need to progress into training and employment.

Using a combination of relationship building, outreach, networking, and business development, you'll help create opportunities that positively impact the lives of young people across your region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, engage, and recruit new learners onto the Jobs Growth Wales+ Programme.
  • Promote the organisation's training programmes through networking, community engagement, and marketing activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, youth organisations, community groups, and local stakeholders.
  • Generate learner referrals through telephone outreach, digital engagement, networking events, and community-based activities.
  • Develop new employer and partner relationships while strengthening existing partnerships.
  • Promote and actively sell the organisation's training programmes and learner opportunities.
  • Work closely with Centre Leads and Learner Coaches to ensure a smooth transition from recruitment through to programme enrolment.
  • Represent the organisation professionally within the local community to raise awareness of the programme and its benefits.
About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Experience working with young people, or a genuine passion for helping them achieve their potential.
  • Strong knowledge of local communities, networks, and referral pathways.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence networking and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to generating learner referrals.
  • The ability to work independently while managing a varied workload.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check (funded by the employer) and register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Desirable:

  • Experience working within Post-16 Education, employability, training, or youth support services.
