We are seeking dedicated Youth Workers to join our team at a specialist provision in Caerphilly supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This setting provides education and support for young people aged 5–16, offering a nurturing environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive and meaningful relationships with pupils based on trust, consistency, and respect.

  • Support the delivery of individual education and behaviour support plans.

  • Encourage engagement in learning activities and promote positive behaviour strategies.

  • Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to provide consistent support.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, maintaining accurate and confidential records.

  • Provide pastoral support and intervention when pupils become dysregulated or require additional support.

  • Promote and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

About You:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs, is desirable.

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, psychology, health and social care, or related fields are desirable, although full training will be provided.
