1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming 2 form entry primary school in Bethnal Green, home to a large and well-established SEND provision.

The school provides a positive, inclusive and passionate learning environment, with a strong focus on individuality. They are looking for a dedicated SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant who can build a trusting relationship with a pupil and help them thrive both academically and emotionally.

As an SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day

• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

• Support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement

• Help remove barriers to learning

• Encourage independence, confidence and self-esteem

• Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team

• Support the wider SEND provision when required

• Celebrate the pupil's individuality, strengths and achievements

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs

• A calm, patient and consistent approach

• Someone who is resilient and confident managing challenging situations

• Strong relationship-building skills

• A genuine passion for helping children succeed

• Someone who understands that every child is different and deserves an individual approach

Previous 1:1, SEMH or SEND experience is highly desirable.
