Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN School in Erdington, Birmingham. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in the life of a young person through consistent, individualised support.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday:8:30am - 3:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am - 1:45pm (early finish)
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil throughout the school day
- Supporting the pupil to access learning activities tailored to their individual needs
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement with education
- Implementing strategies outlined within the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour using consistent approaches
- Building a strong, trusting relationship while maintaining clear professional boundaries
- Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
- A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs is advantageous
- Patient, calm, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain consistent in your approach
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to a long-term role
- Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential
