Accounts Assistant

Location: Appleton. Warrington

Salary: £25,000.00 - £30,000.00

Summary:

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established UK haulage business in a varied, hands-on finance role. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support accurate ledgers, cash control and month-end processes, with a clear scope to develop your career further.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices in Sage 50, match purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain supplier accounts, complete reconciliations and prepare BACS payment runs.
• Raise customer invoices, allocate receipts and support credit control and statement preparation
• Complete bank reconciliations and post cash receipts and payments accurately
• Support month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, VAT returns and intercompany reconciliations
• Assist with expenses, payroll administration, audit queries and finance process improvements

Experience:

• Previous Accounts Assistant experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliation required.
• Have working knowledge of Sage 50 or similar software, plus confident Excel skills
• Be accurate, organised and able to manage deadlines and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• An AAT qualification, would be advantageous
• Experience in haulage, logistics or transport preferred
