Accounts Assistant – Temporary ongoing

£15.38 per hour

Working hours – 8:30am – 5:00pm / 37.5 hours per week

Role Purpose

The role will involve processing purchase and sales invoices, carrying out account reconciliations, maintaining accurate financial records, dealing with supplier and customer queries, and providing general support to the wider finance team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within an accounts environment, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload. Previous hands-on experience using Sage 50 is essential for this position.

Role Responsibilities

• Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
• Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50
• Complete bank and account reconciliations
• Process supplier payments and assist with payment runs
• Monitor customer accounts and support credit control activities
• Deal with supplier and customer account queries in a professional manner
• Match invoices against purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies
• Assist with maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers
• Process expenses and ensure supporting documentation is recorded correctly
• Support the finance team with month-end processes and reporting
• Maintain accurate filing and financial documentation
• Liaise with colleagues across the business to resolve accounts-related queries
• Provide general administrative support to the finance department as required

Skills Required

• Previous Sage 50 experience is essential
• Experience within an accounts or finance role
• Good understanding of purchase and sales ledgers
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
• Confident using Microsoft Excel
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• Ability to work accurately to deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
