Our client, an established organisation within the environmental sector is seeking an experienced Accounts Specialist to join the business on an interim basis. This is a hands-on assignment focused on reviewing, updating and maintaining financial records, whilst ensuring the accounting system is accurate, organised and fully up to date.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the finance team, improving data accuracy, and ensuring financial information is correctly recorded and readily available for reporting and business operations.
This position would suit a qualified finance professional who combines strong accounting expertise with excellent finance systems knowledge and enjoys working through complex reconciliations and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the accounting system (NAV) with outstanding financial information.
- Review, reconcile and validate financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process and allocate payments, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded.
- Upload and organise financial information within the finance system.
- Support the production of accurate financial reports and management information..
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies within financial records and transactions.
- Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting.
- Support day-to-day accounting activities and month-end processes where required.
- Assist with maintaining effective financial controls and improving finance processes.
Person Specification
Essential
- Min Level 4 AAT or Qualified by Experience with strong all-round accounting knowledge.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) or a similar ERP/accounting system
- Previous experience in a broad accounting or finance role.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting systems and finance processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and reconciliation skills.
- Ability to analyse data, identify issues and implement solutions.
- Confident working independently and managing priorities effectively.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable.
- Previous experience supporting finance system improvements, reconciliations or data clean-up projects.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, utilities, environmental or process-led businesses.
- Previous interim or contract finance experience.
