We are looking for an Administrator Support Worker to assist our Cornwall Site Manager – could this be you?

Administrator Support Worker
Location: Cornwall Site Office, Penzance, Hybrid + some travel
Contract: 6 months Fixed-Term (with potential to be on a rolling basis [funding dependent])
Hours: Part-Time, 8 hours per week
Salary: £13.45 - £14.36 Per Hour
Benefits: Pension Scheme, Life Assurance Scheme, 26 days' Annual Leave (pro rata)

In this role, you will provide dedicated administrative and organisational support that enables the Site Manager to work effectively, sustainably, and in a way that supports accessible and inclusive working practices.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in creating a well-structured, supportive working environment, using practical tools, systems, and approaches to improve organisation, communication, and information clarity.

What’s the role about?

The focus of this role is to provide practical administrative support and structured ways of working that improve clarity, accessibility, and efficiency in day-to-day tasks.

Example tasks

  • Coordinate administrative tasks, including diary management, organisation of work, and financial processes
  • Prepare, format, and proofread documents; take notes and summarise information from multiple sources
  • Adapt communication formats to support accessibility (for example, simplifying or presenting information in alternative ways)
  • Provide consistent, structured support during detailed or complex tasks to help maintain quality and accuracy
  • Organise and manage information using digital tools and document management systems
  • You will also work collaboratively with the Site Manager to support volunteers as part of day-to-day activities.

This role provides dedicated administrative support to an individual and complements wider administrative resources.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise administrative tasks to meet agreed deadlines
  • Experience of providing administrative support, including preparing documents and managing information
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including producing accurate notes and summaries
  • Ability to structure, simplify, and present information in a way that improves clarity and accessibility
  • Working knowledge of common digital workplace tools (such as Microsoft Office and collaboration platforms, or equivalent systems)
  • Ability to use or learn document management systems to organise and retrieve information effectively
  • Understanding of inclusive working practices, including how to support accessibility and workplace adjustments
  • Ability to provide consistent, person-centred support tailored to an individual’s working style and needs
  • Experience using, or willingness to learn, assistive technologies or practical strategies that support organisation and communication
  • Ability to identify issues and take proactive, practical steps to resolve them or improve ways of working

Additional information:

  • This is a 6 month Fixed-Term role for 8 hours per week with potential to be on a rolling basis (funding dependent).
  • Support will be delivered through a combination of in-person (minimum 45%) and remote working (approximately 55%). This will be agreed together with the Site Manager and reviewed regularly.
  • In-person work is based in Penzance and may involve occasional travel.
  • The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
