Teaching Consultancy is working with a welcoming and inclusive [primary/secondary] school in Newham to recruit an organised and proactive Admissions and Attendance Officer. This is a key role at the heart of the school office, helping pupils settle in smoothly and making sure every child is in school and ready to learn.

The role

• Manage the full admissions process, including in-year admissions, liaising with parents and the Local Authority
• Maintain accurate pupil records on the school's MIS (e.g. SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom)
• Monitor daily attendance, follow up on absences and make first-day contact calls to parents/carers
• Identify attendance patterns and flag concerns to the Attendance Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Prepare attendance reports and data for the Senior Leadership Team and statutory returns
• Support attendance meetings, letters, parenting contracts and Local Authority referrals
• Arrange welcome meetings and induction for new pupils and families
• Provide general administrative support to the school office

The ideal candidate will have

• Experience in a school admissions, attendance or school office role (preferred)
• Confident use of a school MIS and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional manner with families
• Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for accuracy
• An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
• Knowledge of DfE attendance guidance (desirable)
• Additional languages spoken in the local community would be an advantage
