Adoptions Engineer - Yorkshire

As our business continues to grow, we are creating a brand new opportunity for an Adoptions Engineer to establish and lead our infrastructure adoption function across Yorkshire. This exciting opportunity is to establish and develop the infrastructure adoption function, helping to shape best practice across our Yorkshire developments and supporting the business in delivering timely, compliant and cost effective asset adoptions.

The role:

  • Lead the adoption process across multiple residential developments from construction through to final adoption.
  • Manage and coordinate highway, drainage and utility adoption agreements.
  • Develop and implement robust adoption tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Build strong working relationships with local authorities, water companies and statutory undertakers.
  • Work alongside technical team and site teams to ensure infrastructure is designed and constructed to the standards required for adoption.
  • Identify and resolve technical or procedural issues that could delay adoptions.
  • Arrange and attend inspections with adopting authorities.
  • Coordinate the completion of remedial works and manage defect resolution.
  • Monitor adoption programmes and provide regular progress updates to senior management.
  • Review engineering drawings, as build information and technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to agreements, inspections, certificates and adoption status.
  • Identify risks associated with delayed adoption and work proactively to minimise commercial exposure.
  • Champion continuous improvement by developing best practice for adoption management across the business.

Your experience:

  • Experience within the housebuilding, civil engineering or residential infrastructure sector.
  • A sound understanding of the adoption process for highways, drainage and associated infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements.
  • Familiarity with SuDS, drainage, and residential infrastructure construction.
  • Experience working with local authorities, water companies and consultants.
  • The confidence to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with multiple teams.

  • Confident and influential, able to communicate with people at all levels and driving progress through effective relationships.
  • Understanding the importance of delivery quality outcomes whilst considering the wider impact on the business commercially.
  • Self motivated able to thrive with autonomy and enjoy making a meaningful contribution.
