Senior Air Conditioning Engineer - Technical Lead
£48K-£60K
Company based in Rugby
We’re looking for an experienced domestic and light commercial air conditioning engineer to cover homes across Warwickshire and the West Midlands. You’ll do the work yourself, and you’ll lead our air conditioning work technically.
About us
We’re family-run, with around 80 people across four trades, more than 30,000 customers and 4,800 Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.8. Last year we won the HPM Award and the West Midlands Energy Efficiency Award.
What the role involves
Most of your week is hands-on: installing, servicing and repairing air conditioning in customers’ homes. Alongside that, you’ll be our go-to person for air conditioning:
- Training our heating engineers in air conditioning, so more of the team can install and maintain it
- Supporting our surveyors: reviewing AC surveys and advising on system design and equipment
- Leading on our larger ducted and VRF jobs, and supporting other engineers on site
- Helping shape how air conditioning grows across the business
Your day-to-day work
- Installing, commissioning and handing over split, multi-split and ducted systems in homes
- Planned maintenance and servicing to manufacturer standards
- Fault-finding and repairs, including compressors and parts on the refrigerant circuit and explaining to customers what was wrong and what you did
- Some commercial and VRF/VRV work
- Keeping job records, commissioning sheets and F-Gas paperwork up to date
- Working safely, including our working-at-height procedures
What we’re looking for
F-Gas Category 1
At least 5 years as an air conditioning engineer
Proven domestic installation experience, working in customers’ homes
Experience of training, mentoring or supervising other engineers
Strong electrical fault-finding and a good understanding of controls
Experience with Daikin, Mitsubishi, Haier, Toshiba, Fujitsu or similar
A full UK driving licence
Useful but not essential: ducted and VRF experience, system design or surveying, manufacturer VRF training, NVQ Level 3 in refrigeration and air conditioning.
Hours and travel
The van comes home with you, and you go straight to your first job. You’ll come into Rugby for parts, van checks, team meetings and training. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 till 5. If you need different hours, mention it at interview and we’ll talk it through under our flexible working arrangements.
Pay and benefits
- £48,000 – £60,000 basic, depending on experience, plus overtime
- Private healthcare that covers pre-existing conditions, and your partner and children too
- EV salary sacrifice car scheme through Octopus, servicing and maintenance included
- A Tools Down day each year, your birthday off, and the option to buy extra holiday
- Van, fuel card, phone, mobile allowance, uniform, tools and PPE
- F-Gas renewals, manufacturer training and further qualifications paid for
- Gym discounts with Nuffield and Hussle, an employee assistance programme, and a salary sacrifice pension
- Team days and company events
