Position: Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer

Location: Stockton-on-Tees

Salary/Package: £43,000 + up to approx. £5,000 call-out earnings, Van/Fuel Card, PPE & Tools, 25 days holiday +8 Banks, Pension, Career development.

Purpose of the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join a growing mechanical and electrical services business operating across the North of England.

The role involves servicing, maintaining, repairing and installing air conditioning, refrigeration, air handling and extraction systems across a range of commercial and public sector sites, including schools, universities, MOD sites, factories and other commercial premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and installations.
  • Work on air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, AHUs and commercial/domestic extraction systems.
  • Diagnose faults and identify additional works required.
  • Lead jobs from planning through to completion, working safely and efficiently.
  • Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant certification.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and provide excellent customer service.
  • Work independently while supporting other members of the maintenance team.
  • Participate in the call-out rota where applicable.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant discipline – NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • F-Gas and ODS Regulations qualification/experience.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH and M&E regulations.
  • Site Safety/CSCS Health & Safety qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to organise and manage your own workload across multiple sites.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to advanced DBS, Police and MOD vetting

Desirable

  • IPAF & PASMA
  • IOSH / SMSTS or equivalent
  • Experience with measuring and quotation preparation
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including 18th Edition

Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
