This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional with a strong background in social housing allocations, including housing banding, priority assessments and property allocations.
The role offers hybrid working, providing flexibility to work from home alongside office-based working in Bradford.
As an Allocations Officer, you will be responsible for managing the allocation of social housing properties and ensuring applicants are assessed and housed in accordance with the organisation's allocations policy, procedures and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities of an Allocations Officer:
- Assess housing applications and determine applicants' eligibility and housing priority.
- Manage and review housing banding assessments, ensuring applicants are placed in the correct priority band.
- Process applications, changes in circumstances and reviews accurately and within required timescales.
- Allocate available properties to eligible applicants in accordance with the organisation's allocations policy.
- Manage offers of accommodation and liaise with applicants throughout the allocation process.
- Provide clear advice and guidance to applicants regarding their housing options, priority and eligibility.
- Deal with queries, complaints and requests for reviews relating to housing allocations and banding decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date applicant records and case management systems.
- Liaise with internal teams, local authorities and other partner agencies.
- Ensure allocations are carried out fairly, consistently and in line with relevant legislation and policies.
- Investigate discrepancies or issues relating to applications, eligibility and priority.
- Work to agreed performance targets and ensure cases are progressed within required timescales.
- Previous experience working within social housing, ideally as an Allocations Officer or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of social housing allocations and housing banding systems.
- Experience assessing housing applications and determining housing priority.
- Knowledge of relevant housing legislation, policies and procedures.
- Experience dealing directly with housing applicants and providing advice on complex cases.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload.
- The ability to make accurate, fair and consistent decisions.
- Good IT and case management system skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider housing team.
