A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Architect with a passion for building conservation to join a friendly, RIBA-chartered practice based in Oxfordshire.
The practice has a strong focus on sustainability and historic buildings, taking pride in revitalising and enhancing existing structures through innovative, thoughtful and sensitive design. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Architect to take a key role within the team, contributing design expertise to the preservation and enhancement of historic buildings while delivering projects from concept through to completion.
Requirements:
- Significant UK-based experience working as an Architect, ideally within a conservation, heritage or historic buildings environment.
- ARB registration and RIBA qualification, or equivalent professional accreditation.
- A genuine passion for historic buildings, building conservation and sustainable design.
- Strong design and technical knowledge, with an understanding of historic building conservation, maintenance, repair and sensitive adaptation.
- Proven experience developing projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience producing high-quality drawings and detailed design information.
- Good knowledge of UK planning, building regulations and relevant conservation requirements.
- Strong project, programme and budget management skills.
- Experience in contract administration and a good understanding of construction contracts.
- Experience managing or supporting a small team and contributing to the development of colleagues.
- A full, clean driving licence, access to a car and the ability to commute within the Oxfordshire region.
Role:
- Leading and contributing to projects through all stages, from initial concept and feasibility through to completion.
- Developing thoughtful, creative and contextually sensitive architectural designs for historic and existing buildings.
- Producing and coordinating high-quality design, technical and construction information.
- Working on the conservation, maintenance, repair, restoration and sensitive adaptation of historic buildings.
- Applying sustainable design principles to improve the performance, longevity and usability of existing buildings.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, conservation specialists and other project stakeholders.
- Preparing and submitting planning, listed building and other relevant applications.
- Managing project programmes and budgets to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Assisting with or undertaking contract administration duties and supporting projects throughout the construction phase.
- Ensuring projects are delivered to a high architectural and technical standard while respecting the historic significance, character and context of each building.
- Taking a key role within the practice, supporting colleagues, contributing to design development and helping to maintain high standards across the team.
