Field Architectural Building Engineer – Carbon Capture Construction Project

Location: Point of Ayr, Talacre, North Wales
Rate: £500–£550 per day 
Duration: Initial 12-month contract, with an extension likely
Working pattern: 5.5 days per week
Project: Major Carbon Capture & Storage Project 

Type: Outside IR35 Limited company contract 

Ceto Talent is recruiting an Architectural Building Engineer to support a major carbon capture and storage construction project based on-site in North Wales.

The successful candidate will support field architectural engineering activities across the construction of industrial buildings, facilities and building modules. You will review materials and technical documentation, coordinate subcontractors and ensure architectural and structural requirements are correctly interpreted and delivered throughout the carbon capture construction programme.

This is a site-based architectural building engineering position. It is not focused on residential housing, interior design or purely architectural design.

Candidates must have experience supporting building construction activities on industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, oil and gas sites or similar major construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review client technical documentation, engineering specifications and construction requirements
  • Maintain project technical files and architectural documentation
  • Coordinate external architectural engineering subcontractors across the carbon capture construction site
  • Review architectural engineering designs completed by subcontractors
  • Review design specifications and coordinate the architectural and structural design of building modules on-site
  • Support the definition of structural requirements and construction materials
  • Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the structural integrity of each building and module
  • Prepare architectural design specifications for buildings and support the preparation of associated civil works specifications
  • Develop functional architectural layouts based on multidisciplinary engineering and construction input
  • Prepare material specifications and the architectural basis of design for buildings across the carbon capture project
  • Support Procurement with technical interfaces involving architectural suppliers and vendors
  • Work closely with architectural, structural, civil, procurement and construction teams
  • Support client and subcontractor relationships throughout the building construction programme

Experience required

  • Proven experience in architectural building engineering roles
  • Proven experience working within a live construction-site environment
  • Experience supporting the construction of industrial buildings, facilities, manufacturing plants, commercial buildings or oil and gas facilities
  • Strong experience reviewing construction materials and material specifications
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, engineering documents and technical specifications
  • Experience coordinating architectural engineering subcontractors and vendors
  • Knowledge of architectural and structural interfaces relating to buildings and modular construction
  • Strong technical-documentation review and client-relationship skills
  • Previous experience within carbon capture, oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, refinery, nuclear, energy-from-waste or other major industrial construction projects would be beneficial

Please note: Candidates whose experience is primarily within housing construction, residential developments, interior architecture or interior design will not be suitable for this position.
