Salary/Rate: £13.97 per hour (Day Shift) | £16.06 per hour (Night Shift from September)
Job Summary
Swift Temps Ltd is recruiting for a detail-oriented, flexible, and reliable Assembly Operator for our client based in Bradford to support Night Shift operation. In this role, you will primarily assemble components, operate basic machinery, and ensure finished products meet strict quality standards. This position offers variety, as you may also be required to support other vital warehouse functions in the Intake and Despatch areas. The role starts on a fixed day shift and transitions to a permanent night shift schedule in September, which includes a significant pay increase.
Working Hours & Pay Structure
- Current Schedule (Until September): Day shift, 05:45 AM to 17:45 PM at £13.97 per hour.
- Upcoming Schedule (From September): Night shift, 17:45 PM to 05:45 AM at £16.06 per hour.
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday
Key Responsibilities
- Component Assembly: Assemble products using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment according to technical drawings.
- Warehouse & Logistics Support: Cross-train and complete operational tasks within the Intake (goods-in, checking stock) and Despatch (packing, loading, shipping) departments as business needs dictate.
- Quality Control: Conduct visual and functional inspections of parts and finished units to identify and report defects.
- Machine Operation: Safely operate and monitor automated or semi-automated production machinery, making minor adjustments when required.
- Workflow Tracking: Accurately log production quantities, completed tasks, and stock movements in the internal system.
- Workspace Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation in line with standard safety principles.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Shift Flexibility: Full commitment to working the 12-hour day shift now and transitioning permanently to the 12-hour night shift in September.
- Adaptability: Willingness to work across different departments, moving smoothly between assembly line work, goods-inward (Intake), and logistics (Despatch).
- Technical Skills: Comfortable using a variety of basic hand and power tools safely.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to handle physical warehouse tasks, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive manual movements during a 12-hour shift.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately follow complex instructions, verify inventory paperwork, and ensure product precision.
- Experience: Previous manufacturing, warehouse, intake, or despatch experience essential.
