Assembly Technician in Tile Cross, City and Borough of Birmingham

We are part of the global Cognesense group, delivering industry‑leading explosion protection solutions for equipment operating in hazardous areas, such as oil and gas, chemical and manufacturing sectors. Our UK operation design and manufacture industrial and hazardous-area switches, transmitters, explosion relief valves and explosion-proof (Ex) hazardous area lighting solutions and control equipment.

Due to relocation of our Plymouth site to Birmingham, we are looking for Assembly Technicians to join our small team. You will be required to be on-site in Plymouth for training, Monday to Friday for 8-10 weeks, all accommodation and travel costs will be covered.

Job Purpose:

You will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electro mech products and components to high quality standards, following work instructions, engineering drawings and production schedules, using hand and power tools.

Duties:

• Read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of materials, and standard operating procedures.
• Carry out visual and dimensional inspections to ensure products meet quality requirements.
• Complete production records, quality checks, and traceability documentation accurately.
• Pack finished goods to company and customer requirements.
• Support the Assembly Team Leader in Identifying first line potential issues, reporting quality concerns, defects, or non-conformances
• Actively contribute to delivering the daily productivity targets assigned and report to the Team Leader where performance is below expectation.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

• Experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques.
• Experience using measuring and testing equipment.
• Good manual dexterity and experience in modern assembly techniques and tools.
• Ability to follow written instructions and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
