Assistant Accountant

Are you an early-career finance professional looking to build your accounting career?

A well-established manufacturing business is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join its friendly finance team. This could be a great opportunity for someone who has recently completed their accounting studies, is currently studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or has gained some finance experience and is ready to take the next step.

You don't need extensive manufacturing experience. What matters is a strong foundation in accounting, good attention to detail and a genuine desire to develop your career.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll gain hands-on exposure to management accounting, stock and inventory, month-end reporting, cost analysis and financial controls, working closely with both the finance and operational teams.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the preparation and reconciliation of stock and inventory records

• Investigating stock variances and working with production and warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies

• Assisting with month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts

• Analysing inventory movements, production costs and material usage

• Assisting with regular stock takes and ensuring inventory is accurately recorded

• Supporting product costing and margin analysis

• Producing weekly and monthly financial reports

This role would suit someone who is at the beginning of their accounting career and wants to develop into a well-rounded management accountant.

• A recent Accounting & Finance graduate

• Currently studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA

• AAT qualified and looking for your first step into industry

• An Accounts Assistant looking to progress into management accounting

• Someone with 1–2 years' finance experience looking for a broader role
