A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified finance professional looking to take on a varied role with significant responsibility and the opportunity to support key business decisions. Salary is available up to £40,000 depending on experience.
Your new role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the wider finance function in delivering accurate financial information, helping to drive business performance and ensure financial controls are maintained. You will work closely with finance and operational stakeholders, providing analysis, reporting, and support across a range of accounting activities.Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Ensuring accurate processing and reconciliation of financial transactions.
- Preparing and analysing balance sheet reconciliations and financial estimates.
- Working closely with operational teams to resolve accounting and financial queries.
- Producing ad hoc reports, analysis, and insights to support business decision-making.
- Supporting finance systems administration, process improvements, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Assisting with the development and support of junior team members where required.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and excellent analytical skills.You will also have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be actively studying towards qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience within a finance or accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
