Assistant Building Surveyor

An established and highly regarded building surveying consultancy is looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join its growing team in Colchester.

The Role

As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you will support experienced surveyors across a broad range of building surveying instructions, gaining valuable exposure to both professional and project-based work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with building surveys, condition surveys and defect investigations
• Supporting the preparation of schedules of condition and dilapidations
• Assisting with project management and contract administration
• Preparing reports, specifications and schedules of works
• Liaising with clients, contractors and other professional consultants
• Attending site visits and assisting with inspections
• Developing your technical knowledge and professional surveying skills

About You

We are looking for someone with a relevant degree in Building Surveying or a closely related subject, who is keen to build a long-term career within the profession.

Ideally, you will have around two years' relevant experience within building surveying, property or construction, although candidates with a strong academic background and relevant practical experience will also be considered.

You will ideally have:

• A relevant degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
• Approximately 2 years' relevant building surveying experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good attention to detail and report-writing ability
• A proactive, organised and client-focused approach
• A genuine desire to learn and progress
• A full UK driving licence is advantageous
