As Assistant Depot Manager, you’ll be joining a smaller distribution site where there’s already a strong Depot Manager in place.

So, you won’t be walking in and being expected to figure everything out on your own…You’ll be their number two.

Someone they can rely on to know what’s happening across the depot, manage the team and make decisions when they’re not there.

It’s a busy distribution environment, with stock moving, customer orders being processed and plenty happening across the warehouse during the day, and Assistant Depot Manager, you’ll be visible across the operation.

You’ll know your team, know what needs doing and be comfortable stepping in when something needs sorting, but this isn’t about becoming the person everybody runs to with every little problem.

A good Assistant Depot Manager knows when to get involved and when to let supervisors take ownership themselves.

People management is a big part of it.

You’ll need to be organised, comfortable dealing with different personalities and confident enough to have a conversation when something isn’t quite right.

Health and safety will naturally sit alongside that too. You don’t need a specific qualification, but you do need to be someone who notices what’s happening around them and won’t ignore poor practice.

You’ll probably already be working in warehousing, distribution or logistics.

Maybe you’re a Warehouse Supervisor or Shift Manager now and you’ve reached the point where you’re ready to take on more.

Or perhaps you’re already an Assistant Depot Manager and like the idea of working alongside a Depot Manager who knows their operation and wants a strong person alongside them.

The site operates later into the evening, so the Assistant Depot Manager will provide management cover across the later part of the day, with the final working pattern still to be confirmed.

What matters more is that you’re comfortable taking responsibility when the Depot Manager isn’t there…You don’t have to know everything.

But as Assistant Depot Manager, people do need to know they can come to you and get an answer.

The depot operates between 10am and 10pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around how your working day sits across those hours.

You’ll get £45,000 salary, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, and no regular weekend working.
