Salary: £30,000-£40,000 DOE
This role would suit a graduate, trainee or early-career QS looking to develop their commercial skills within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to cost management, procurement and contract administration across innovative offsite construction schemes.
We are working with a specialist offsite construction contractor delivering unique projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team across a range of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion
- Support the preparation of measurements, cost plans and project budgets
- Assist with valuations, variations and final account preparation
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
- Support cost reporting and forecasting activities
- Work closely with project and site teams to monitor project performance
- Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Develop an understanding of JCT and NEC contracts and commercial processes
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee QS role, or a relevant degree qualification
- Good understanding of construction and commercial principles
- Competent numerical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of measurement and cost management processes
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial construction role
- Experience within offsite construction, MMC, timber frame or structural steel projects
- Exposure to JCT and NEC forms of contract
- Experience working for a contractor or subcontractor environment
- Working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification or professional accreditation
- Hybrid working pattern: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote
