The Role:

We are seeking an Assistant Maintenance Surveyor to support the delivery of a comprehensive asset management programme across a diverse residential portfolio. Working closely with the wider Asset Management team, you will help ensure properties are maintained to a high standard, remain compliant with statutory requirements, and align with long-term investment plans. 

This is a varied role offering exposure to planned maintenance, compliance, capital investment projects, sustainability initiatives, contractor management, and property inspections. You will play a key part in maintaining safe, high-quality homes while supporting vulnerable residents, older persons housing, and general needs properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of planned maintenance, repairs, compliance and capital investment programmes.
  • Carry out property inspections and surveys to assess condition, identify defects and support asset lifecycle planning.
  • Undertake pre- and post-inspections of void works and contribute to asset performance reviews.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with housing standards, building regulations and health & safety requirements.
  • Manage and support the Multi-Skilled Operative within the region.
  • Liaise with contractors and consultants to ensure works are delivered on time, to specification and within budget.
  • Support budget monitoring and auditing of contractor invoices to ensure value for money and financial control.
  • Assist with sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and property improvement works.
  • Work closely with housing, repairs and compliance teams to provide technical advice, defect diagnosis and remedial solutions.
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries relating to asset condition, planned works and maintenance activity.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, stakeholders and partner organisations to support service delivery.

About You:

 

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual with a passion for property and asset management.

You will have:

  • Experience in property surveying, property inspections or asset data collection.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical information and produce clear, concise reports.
  • Knowledge of housing standards, building regulations and health & safety requirements.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with contractors, colleagues and residents.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly across the region as part of the role.
  • An understanding that site visits and face-to-face engagement form a key part of the position.

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline.
  • Working towards a professional qualification such as RICS or CIOB would be advantageous.
  • Experience within social housing or public sector asset management would be beneficial.
