Location: West London (Major Infrastructure Project)

Reporting To: Package Manager



The Role

Looking for an ambitious Assistant Package Manager (or Section Engineer) to assist in driving the delivery of major Structural Steel and Envelope packages (Roofing, Cladding, Glazing) on a Tier 1 mega-project.

You will work directly alongside the Package Manager to drive subcontractor progress on site, manage activity readiness, support NEC3 contract administration, and coordinate day-to-day site interfaces.

They're looking for someone to be on site 4 days a week, with 1 day a week working from home.



Key Responsibilities

  • Package Support: Assist the Package Manager in the daily management of structural steel, roofing, cladding, and glazing scopes.

  • Subcontractor Tracking: Monitor daily subcontractor site activities, track plant and labour counts, and accurately log progress against key package deliverables.

  • Activity Readiness & Documentation: Manage Activity Readiness certification processes and navigate project documentation through required approval workflows.

  • Commercial & NEC3 Administration: Work with the package team and Quantity Surveyor to track scope changes, raise early warnings, and identify notifiable events.

  • Interface Coordination: Coordinate between site teams, design teams, and subcontractors to highlight design clashes and keep site works moving smoothly.

  • Safety & Quality: Promote strict health, safety, and environmental standards on site, conducting inspections and closing out quality issues.



Requirements

Essential

  • Education: Degree (BSc, BEng, MSc) in Civil Engineering or equivalent NVQ/HND qualification.

  • Site Experience: Background as an Assistant Package Manager, Site Engineer, or Section Engineer on civil engineering/infrastructure projects.

  • Contract Awareness: Working understanding of NEC3 contracts and change-management processes.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Strong digital literacy and experience writing clear progress reports and site records.

  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card; full right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Prior exposure to structural steelwork, roofing, cladding, or glazing works.

  • SMSTS certification.

  • Working toward professional membership (ICE, APM, or equivalent).

  • Experience using electronic document control platforms (CEMAR, Business Collaborator, eB).
