The Assistant Principal will hold cross College responsibilities, however with a clear remit to oversee Curriculum and Achievement at Beaumont College, Carlisle. The role requires the post holder to lead and manage a staff teams and students. This includes pre-assessment processes, assessments, work placement oversite, transition in for new entrants and transition out for graduates. The College supports students with complex health conditions, learning disabilities and SEMH diagnosis including complex autism.
The Assistant Principal will be a senior post holder with responsibility for compliance with external regulators including CQC and to ensure compliance with Ofsted for students developing systems and processes to ensure excellence in education, care and support for students. The post holder will be supported by senior leaders, as well as the central quality and governance team.
As a member of the senior leadership team at Beaumont College, Carlisle, there will be an overarching focus on business management, including vacancy management, budget planning and business development as well as the day to day operational duties. Quality of provision and financial viability and growth are key to the future success of the college.
The overall objective is supporting students to commit what they learned as part of the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda to their deeper memory to enable them to live as independent adults in the wider community. The post holder must ensure that the services are developed and delivered in consideration to an individual’s racial, culture/religious origins, language, gender, sexual orientation and disability. Measures of success include increased confidence, resilience, self-belief and reduced reliance on people-based support ultimately reducing their life-time costs of care.
The post-holder will form part of safeguarding within a wider team and you will work closely with the Principal, Senior Support Worker, the Multi-disciplinary team, the PBS Practitioner and the Positive Behaviour Support Lead for the whole of Beaumont College.

About The Role
Term time only, 40 hours a week, permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality, multi-disciplinary and person-centred care planning across services.
- Monitor delivery of care, promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of learners and staff in line with relevant legislation.
- Support independence, self-advocacy and appropriate application of the Mental Capacity Act.
- Ensure all practice meets regulatory standards and safeguards the wellbeing of learners.
- Oversee effective use of staffing, resources and budgets to maximise learner opportunities and service efficiency.
- Support capacity planning and contribute to smooth operational delivery.
- Work with senior leaders and therapy teams to develop a strong, needs-led therapeutic curriculum.
- Lead staff development through training, coaching and reflective practice.
- Use audits, monitoring and data to drive continuous improvement in service quality and outcomes.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated, effective care.
- Maintain clear and compliant communication with staff, families and external stakeholders (GDPR compliant).
- Promote a culture of openness, accountability and continuous safeguarding awareness.
- Keep up to date with safeguarding requirements, including KCSIE, PREVENT and statutory guidance.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
