Role Introduction
We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded **Assistant Quantity Surveyor** to join our growing commercial team. Working closely with our Commercial Director and Senior Surveyors, you will support the financial and contractual management of a diverse portfolio of refurbishment and fit-out projects across London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior commercial professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, high-quality main contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of initial tenders, cost estimates, and project budgets.
* Support subcontract procurement, including issuing enquiries, analyzing quotes, and preparing packages.
* Assist with monthly valuations, variations, cost-to-complete reporting, and final accounts.
* Conduct site measurements and valuations to verify progress on-site.
* Maintain accurate records and project documentation to ensure strict cost control.
* Liaise professionally with sub-contractors, site management, and clients to resolve commercial queries.
Skills and Experience
* A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline (or working towards one).
* Minimum 1–2 years of experience within a construction or refurbishment environment (experience with a main contractor is highly desirable).
* Strong numerical skills, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and construction cost-management software.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
* A valid UK driving licence is beneficial.
