The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and work alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor on commercial and industrial fit out and refurbishment projects across the UK.

 

Projects range in value from £100k to £3m, with typical programme durations of 5 weeks to 5 months.

 

This is a development-focused role for someone looking to build their commercial experience and progress into a strong Quantity Surveyor. You will be involved across the construction phase, with some exposure to pre-construction.

 

Duties

  • Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Assist with valuations, payment applications and subcontractor payments.
  • Manage and monitor subcontractor accounts, including variations and final accounts.
  • Assist with procurement and the negotiation of subcontractor and supplier packages.
  • Monitor project costs, labour and material usage and assist with cost reporting.
  • Identify, value and manage variations and additional works.
  • Assist with CVRs, forecasting and reporting on project performance.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
  • Work with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Assist with final accounts and project close-out.

 

Requirements

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or HND with relevant commercial experience.
  • 1-3 years' experience working in a commercial role within construction.
  • Experience within construction, fit out or refurbishment would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of construction costs, contracts and commercial processes.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
