ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE MANAGER for growing company - ROTHERHAM
Salary: circa £40K Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm

This is a growing business specialising in the processing, supply and distribution of specialist metals. Following continued growth and the opening of our new Warehouse, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the day-to-day running of our warehouse operation.
The Role
Working alongside the Warehouse Manager, you will help oversee the daily operation of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are received, stored, processed and dispatched safely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who is confident leading a team, understands warehouse operations and is comfortable taking responsibility when required.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining high standards of stock control, health & safety, housekeeping, productivity and customer service, while supporting the Warehouse Manager with the continued development of the site.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse
Supervise and support warehouse employees
Allocate workloads and ensure daily priorities are achieved
Coordinate goods in, goods out and warehouse movements
Maintain accurate stock control and investigate discrepancies
Ensure materials are stored and handled correctly
Monitor warehouse housekeeping and general site standardsSupport the implementation and enforcement of company policies and procedures
Promote a strong health & safety culture across the warehouse
Assist with staff training and ongoing development
Monitor employee performance and raise issues with the Warehouse Manager
Help resolve day-to-day operational issues
Support stock checks and inventory control
Assist with planning warehouse resources and staffing requirements
Liaise with logistics, administration and management teams
Cover for the Warehouse Manager when required
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and processes
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution or industrial environment
Experience supervising or leading a warehouse team
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and stock control
A good understanding of health & safety requirements
Strong organisational and communication skills
The confidence to manage and motivate a team
A practical, hands-on approach
The ability to work under pressure and prioritise competing demands
Good attention to detail
A professional and reliable approach
A FLT licence and experience within the metals, manufacturing or industrial sector is required for this role.
