A well-established Building Control organisation is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Building Control to lead a team of Registered Building Inspectors delivering domestic and smaller complex projects.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Building Control professional who enjoys developing people, providing technical guidance and overseeing the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service.

The role will also work closely with another Associate Director responsible for Major Projects, providing support on larger and more complex schemes when required.



The Role

As Associate Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and technical oversight of a team of Registered Building Inspectors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, managing and developing a team of RBIs

  • Providing technical guidance and support across domestic and complex Building Control projects

  • Mentoring inspectors and supporting their professional development

  • Ensuring work is delivered in accordance with current Building Regulations, legislation and regulatory requirements

  • Managing workloads and supporting the effective allocation of projects across the team

  • Maintaining high standards of technical quality, consistency and customer service

  • Supporting the Associate Director responsible for Major Projects on larger and more technically challenging schemes

  • Contributing to the continued development and improvement of the Building Control service



About You

We are looking for an experienced Building Control professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to lead and develop others.

You are likely to be an experienced Registered Building Inspector, Building Control Manager, Principal Building Control Surveyor, Team Leader or existing Associate Director looking for the next step in your career.

You should have:

  • Significant experience within Building Control

  • Registration as a Building Inspector at an appropriate level for the role

  • Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations and current Building Safety legislation

  • Experience managing, mentoring or technically supporting other Building Control professionals

  • The confidence to provide technical leadership across a varied portfolio of projects

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues responsible for Major Projects
