A well-established and growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Geotechnical Director to join its team in Reading. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to take on greater technical, commercial and leadership responsibility.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading geotechnical projects, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of the geotechnical team.
The Role
- Lead and manage a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects from feasibility through to delivery.
- Provide senior technical input across ground investigation, foundations, earthworks, slopes and geotechnical design.
- Undertake and review geotechnical assessments, interpret ground investigation data and provide technical recommendations.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and consultants.
- Manage project budgets, programmes and resources.
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Support business development, fee proposals and client relationship management.
- Identify opportunities to develop new and existing client relationships.
- Contribute to the strategic development and growth of the geotechnical team.
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant UK geotechnical consultancy experience.
- Strong technical knowledge across areas such as foundations, earthworks, retaining structures and ground investigation.
- Chartered Engineer status with ICE or a similar professional body.
- Proven experience managing projects and leading technical teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- Experience with geotechnical design software would be advantageous.
- A track record of winning work and developing client relationships would be highly desirable.
