Starfyn Education is proud to be working in partnership with an Outstanding Specialist College in Kingston to recruit a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join their specialist multidisciplinary team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a rewarding further education environment, supporting young people and adults with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You'll play a key role in helping students develop the communication and life skills they need to achieve greater independence and fulfil their potential.
The Role As a Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Deliver high-quality Speech & Language Therapy services at both universal and individual levels.
- Assess and manage communication, eating and drinking needs using formal and informal assessment methods.
- Independently manage a clinical caseload within a specialist education setting.
- Support learners using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to embed communication strategies into the curriculum.
- Deliver training, coaching and advice to staff to promote effective communication support across the college.
- Liaise with families and external professionals to ensure smooth transitions into, through and beyond college.
- Champion person-centred, neurodiversity-affirming practice that promotes independence, inclusion and positive outcomes.
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Disabilities
- Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
- Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Complex communication needs requiring AAC
- Eating and drinking (dysphagia) needs
- Physical disabilities and associated medical needs
- A Degree in Speech & Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- Current HCPC Registration.
- Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience supporting young people or adults with autism and complex learning disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of communication assessment, AAC, and eating and drinking (dysphagia) management.
- Previous experience within an educational or specialist SEND setting (desirable).
- Excellent communication, organisation and multidisciplinary working skills.
