Location: North London
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (alternate weekends)
Salary: £28,000 - £29,500 DOE

This well established independent garden centre has built an excellent reputation for quality plants, inspiring displays, and excellent customer service. They're now looking for a Bedding Plant Area Supervisor to take responsibility for one of their key seasonal departments.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong knowledge of bedding plants who wants to develop their commercial skills. Working closely with the management team, you'll gain hands on experience of supplier management, ordering, and seasonal planning while ensuring the department performs at its best throughout the year.


The Role

As the Bedding Plant Area Supervisor, you'll oversee the day to day running of the bedding area, maintaining high standards of presentation, availability, and plant quality.


You'll work directly with suppliers, supported by the management team, to understand seasonal requirements, place orders, and plan stock levels. During peak periods, you'll have support from the wider team while remaining responsible for the department's standards and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the bedding plant department and maintain high retail standards.
  • Order seasonal bedding plants from established suppliers.
  • Plan stock volumes throughout the season to maximise availability and minimise waste.
  • Create attractive, commercially focused plant displays.
  • Ensure excellent plant quality and presentation at all times.
  • Provide expert horticultural advice and outstanding customer service.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop your buying skills and take increasing responsibility for the department.

About You

  • Strong horticultural knowledge, particularly within seasonal bedding plants.
  • Experience working in a retail plant area or garden centre.
  • Confident merchandising and visual display skills.
  • Organised with the ability to plan ahead and take ownership of your department.
  • Buying or ordering experience would be advantageous but isn't essential, as full training will be provided.
