Empowering Learning is proud to work in partnership with a number of Manchester Local Authority Special Schools and specialist provisions, providing exceptional staff who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand, we are looking to recruit caring, resilient and confident Behaviour Mentors to work across a range of specialist settings from September 2026.

Our partner schools support pupils with a variety of additional needs including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Complex Needs and Communication Difficulties. Every day presents a new opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a young person's education and wellbeing.



The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to regulate their emotions, engage positively in learning and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

You may be supporting pupils:

  • On a 1:1 basis
  • In small intervention groups
  • Within the classroom alongside teaching staff
  • Around the wider school environment during unstructured times

You'll become a trusted adult who helps pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.



We're looking for people with experience in:

  • Behaviour support within schools
  • SEND education
  • Youth work
  • Children's residential care
  • Sports coaching
  • Mental health support
  • Youth offending or mentoring
  • Care and support work

Most importantly, we're looking for people who are patient, resilient, approachable and passionate about helping children succeed.
