Pay: £93.00 to £100.00 per day

Tradewind Recruitment in Whitstable are working in partnership with a number of specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools across Thanet and the surrounding areas. We are currently recruiting Behaviour Mentors and Pastoral Support Workers to join dedicated school teams supporting children and young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
These are rewarding, full-time positions for individuals who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure and help pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-belief.
The Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor/Pastoral Support Worker, you will:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and personal development.
- Help de-escalate challenging situations using a calm, consistent and patient approach.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and senior leaders to support individual behaviour plans.
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
We're Looking For:
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
- SEMH, SEND or mainstream school settings.
- Youth work, mentoring or pastoral support.
- Residential childcare or supported living.
- Sports coaching or outdoor education.
- Care work, social care or community support.
- Military, prison, probation or security backgrounds with transferable behaviour management skills.
You will ideally have:
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, resilient and patient approach.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour positively.
- A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed.
- The ability to commit to full-time work, Monday to Friday.
