The business

Our client is a well-established and busy business based in Washington, operating a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment.

Due to continued operational requirements, they are looking for a skilled Bendi & Counterbalance Forklift Driver to support the movement, storage and loading of stock across the site.

The Role

As a Bendi & Counterbalance Forklift Driver, you will play an important role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods throughout the warehouse and yard.

Your duties will include:

• Safely operating Bendi and counterbalance forklift trucks in line with site procedures and health & safety requirements.
• Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Moving, stacking and storing pallets and materials throughout the warehouse and yard.
• Picking and positioning stock accurately.
• Loading and unloading racking safely, ensuring goods are correctly positioned and secure.
• Completing daily pre-use forklift checks and reporting any defects immediately.
• Ensuring loads are secure and within the safe operating capacity of the forklift.
• Working safely around pedestrians, vehicles and other warehouse equipment.
• Supporting general warehouse duties, including picking, loading, unloading and stock movements.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Completing relevant paperwork, stock records and delivery documentation.
• Reporting damaged stock, equipment defects, hazards or accidents promptly.
• Working as part of a wider warehouse team to achieve productivity and accuracy targets.
• Following all company procedures relating to PPE, manual handling, traffic management and workplace safety.

The Person

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Indate/ external Bendi forklift experience and certification.
• Indate/ external Valid Counterbalance forklift experience and certification.
• Previous experience working within a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
• Proven experience safely operating forklifts in a busy working environment.
• Good understanding of warehouse health & safety procedures.
• Experience loading/unloading vehicles and moving palletised goods.
• Ability to safely load and work with warehouse racking.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy when moving and positioning stock.
• A reliable and hardworking attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.
