Pay Rates: £20.44 per hour (exc WTD)
Shift Patterns: 22.5 hours per week with various shift patterns. Earlies:7am to 3pm. Cores: 9am to 5:30pm. Lates 1pm to 9pm. Twilights: 2:30pm to 10pm. Nights 9pm to 7pm Mon to Thurs. Weekends are 11/12 hours long. Saturday and Sunday day are 8am to 8pm

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated laboratory team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and patient-focused diagnostic service, while taking on greater responsibility for technical expertise, quality management and service development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform analyses on patient samples for a comprehensive range of biochemical analysts using a variety of manual and automated techniques to the agreed quality standard.
- Participate in specimen preparation and patient data input in the pre-analytical section of the laboratory when asked to do so.
- Maintain, monitor and QC analytical equipment kept and used outside the laboratory (point of care testing [POCT]).
- Take telephone enquiries from doctors, nurses, other ward staff and from staff at other hospitals and give technical advice when needed.
- Participate if necessary in any research or development work associated with the provision of an efficient Clinical Biochemistry service.
- Any other duties deemed necessary to maintain an efficient Clinical Biochemistry service.
- Participate in the single discipline out of hour’s rota as required. Hours worked will form part of contracted hours of employment. Duties to include:
- To be able to work alone without supervision.
- To be able to take control in any Health and Safety event that may take place out of hours.
- To be able to authorise all results as they are available to enable them to be reported electronically to wards and departments.
- To be able to give help and advice to Doctors and ward staff if needed.
- To monitor the quality of the service offered at all times.
What you’ll need:
- Accredited BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
- Specialist diploma from IBMS or equivalent.
- HCPC State Registration.
- At least two years post registration experience as in all aspects of a Biochemistry Laboratory.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
