BMS Service & Project Engineer
Crucial People Ltd
This role gives you a predominantly service-based position with enough upgrade and project work to keep things interesting. You will work across Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell and Beckhoff systems, with a genuine route into PLC automation as your experience develops.
This is not a desk-based engineering position. You will travel between sites and take part in an on-call rota.
In return, you will have ownership of your work, enough variety to keep developing and the support to solve problems properly rather than simply applying temporary fixes.
Why this could beat your current role You will join an independent controls engineering specialist rather than becoming another number inside a national contractor.
Your work will cover a couple of key client sites around Poole and Bournemouth, alongside regional projects and remote diagnostics. The wider project portfolio includes healthcare, pharmaceutical and clean-room facilities, infrastructure, commercial buildings and specialist environments.
You will also have the technical backing to engineer properly. Funded Niagara training, an NVQ Level 4 in BMS and an individual development plan are available, giving you a clear next step rather than vague promises about future progression.
What you’ll be doing
- Taking ownership of BMS service and maintenance visits, diagnosing faults across software, controllers, panels and field hardware.
- Supporting upgrades and project works, including modifications, commissioning and system improvements.
- Managing your own diary across client sites, with remote support and experienced engineers available when you need them.
- Building your exposure to PLC automation, smoke control and more complex regulated environments.
Depending on your starting point, your next step could include deeper Niagara expertise, PLC programming, smoke control systems or more responsibility for project delivery.
Engineers from a strong industrial, process or PLC controls background will also be considered where the core fault-finding skills are transferable. Training into BMS can be provided.
What you’ll bring
- Hands-on BMS, controls, industrial or process service experience, including structured fault-finding.
- The confidence to work autonomously across client sites and support upgrade or project activity.
- A full UK driving licence, the Right To Work in the UK and a workable location for Poole or Bournemouth.
- A willingness to join an on-call rota.
Package
- £45,000+ depending on experience
- Annual bonus
- Company vehicle or monthly car allowance
- Travel expenses covered
- 5% company pension contribution
- BUPA private medical insurance
- Life assurance at four times salary
- 25 days’ holiday plus public holidays
- Funded technical training and an individual development plan
