£55,000–£70,000 + car or car allowance + pension + healthcare + living-away allowance

Tier 1 Contractor

Opportunity

Are you a Building Services Manager looking to take ownership of the mechanical and electrical delivery on a substantial construction project in Cumbria?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Services Manager to join an experienced main contractor and play an important role throughout the design, installation, testing and commissioning stages of a technically demanding development.

Working alongside the project leadership, design team, consultants and specialist subcontractors, the Building Services Manager will ensure all building services packages are properly coordinated, safely installed and delivered in line with the programme, specification and quality standards.

Previous school, education or Department for Education project experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Applications are welcomed from Building Services Manager candidates with experience delivering complex mechanical and electrical packages across commercial, healthcare, residential, public-sector or other major new-build developments.

Responsibilities

As Building Services Manager, you will take responsibility for the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services across the project.

You will review technical designs, identify coordination issues and ensure building services information is issued in line with the construction programme. The Building Services Manager will work closely with consultants, designers, subcontractors and the wider site team to resolve technical queries and avoid delays.

You will monitor mechanical and electrical installations, complete quality inspections and ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, regulations and approved commissioning strategies.

The Building Services Manager will manage specialist subcontractors, review progress against short-term programmes and coordinate services with structural, architectural and finishing works. You will also attend design and progress meetings, contribute to project reporting and help manage the production of accurate testing, commissioning, handover and operation and maintenance information.

The successful Building Services Manager will be commercially aware, technically confident and capable of communicating effectively with both site-based and design-focused stakeholders. You will be proactive in identifying potential risks and finding practical solutions that protect quality and programme.

What’s in it for you

The Building Services Manager position offers a salary of £55,000–£70,000, depending on experience, plus a car or car allowance, pension and healthcare.

Candidates based locally would be ideal, although experienced Building Services Manager candidates from further afield will also be considered. Living-away allowances are available where required.

You will join a collaborative project team, take ownership of a major services package and have opportunities to progress within an established contractor that supports long-term professional development.
