Girling Jones is recruiting a Building Surveyor to join its Plymouth team. The consultancy has developed an excellent reputation for combining technical expertise and strong project management with long-standing client relationships, delivering work that regularly competes with much larger national practices.
Projects typically range from £250,000 to £2 million, giving you exposure to an interesting mix of schemes across:

The Role
Joining as a Building Surveyor, you’ll provide a combination of professional Building Surveying and project management services, overseeing projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own workload and client relationships while working closely with an experienced team when additional expertise or support is required.
The position offers genuine responsibility from the outset, with the opportunity to work directly with clients and play an important role in the delivery of a diverse project portfolio.
About You We’re looking for someone with a strong consultancy background who is comfortable managing projects, dealing directly with clients and taking responsibility for their own workload.
For this Building Surveyor position, you’ll need:
- A degree in Building Surveying
- MRICS Chartered status
- A minimum of two years’ post-chartership experience
- Previous consultancy experience
- Strong project management capabilities
- Confidence working directly with clients
- Experience delivering refurbishment and alteration projects
- The ability to commute to Plymouth or relocate to the area
- £50,000 - £55,000 salary plus benefits
